The San Francisco Giants have entered both games one and two in this series versus the Cubs as -145 favorites. They are favored even with the fact that the Cubs entered the series on a six game-winning streak, compared to the Giants who entered the same series having lost seven in a row. The books figure that the Giants have to win at some point. The Giants most recent losing series have come from sweeps against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers, so a couple of tough opponents. The Cubs wins in this winning streak have come twice against the Pirates three times against the Phillies, and then one win against the Mets, So not the best of opponents. So the Giants, having this losing streak against tough opponents and the Cubs having this winning streak against weaker opponents, definitely factored into the setting of this line. The pitching matchup will be between Marcus Stroman of the Cubs and Alex Cobb of the Giants. Neither of these pictures have been having a stellar campaign, as they both have ERA’s north of 4.25, and both have losing records. The Cubs scored 15 runs just four games ago.And the Giants have scored more than four runs a couple times, despite the losing streak, so expect some runs to be scored.
