Toronto Extends Win-Streak Despite Bichette’s Absence
The Toronto Blue Jays are 3rd in the AL East with a 64-50 record. They’ve won 6 of their last 10 and are looking at extending their 4-game winning streak. In their first matchup of the season, the Blue Jays beat the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 in the series opener on Monday. Bo Bichette, Toronto’s SS and lights out batter, has been unconscious from the plate this season but is nursing a knee injury and will not be available for this series against Cleveland. Bichette has not played a single game in August due to the injury, but the Blue Jays are 6-2 without him.
After winning just 2 of their last 10 games, the Cleveland Guardians are falling behind in the race for the AL Central. They are 54-59 overall, but their recent struggles have knocked the Guardians 5.5 games back from the top spot in the division. Over their abysmal stretch in the last 10 games, Cleveland averaged just 2.4 runs per game. They allowed a respectable 39 total runs, or 3.9 runs against per game, but unless the Guardians can pick it up at the plate, the Blue Jays will roll through them.
