Ok, let’s get to this Blue Jays game today, as this is a must-win series for Toronto. Even though they come in with a two-game winning streak, they have lost five of their last nine games overall to fall two games behind the Yankees in the Wild Card standings.
They’ll be facing a red-hot New York team that has won seven out of its last 10 games, including a three-game sweep of the Red Sox over the weekend at Fenway Park.
The starting pitching match-up has the Blue Jays sending lefty Hyun Jin Ryu to the hill to face the Yankees’ Jamison Tallion.
Not only do the Yankees hit left-handers on the road very well — ranking sixth in the the big leagues with a team batting average of .262 against south paws — but Ryu has really struggled pitching in this ballpark, posting a 7.34 ERA in seven starts, allowing 46 hits in 34 ⅓ innings pitched with a WHIP of 1.62.
