The Mets aren’t having the season they hoped for after coming in with the highest payroll in baseball. They sit at 4th in the NL East with a 46-53 record. Only winning 4 of their last 10 they would need to go on a serious win streak to start making some noise later in the season.

The Yankees are another team having a disappointing season. They are down in 4th in the AL East with a 53-47 record. Only winning 4 of their last 10 this series will be important to them as their division counterparts don’t seem to stop winning. 

I like the Mets in this game. German has been decent this year posting a 4.51 ERA and a 5-6 record. On the other side Verlander has been better with a 3.47 ERA and a 4-5 record.
