The Seattle Mariners Top The AL West

The Seattle Mariners have pulled off the impossible. After a disappointing first half of the season, Seattle was on the outside looking in on the postseason. But after going 35-14 (win-rate: 71.43%) over the last two months, the Mariners have come roaring back, and now lead the AL West with a 73-56 record. 

The Mariners are red-hot, and after winning 9 of their last 10, they will certainly be favored over the last place Oakland A’s. The A’s post a lowly 38-93 record and are the only team who has been officially eliminated from playoff contention. Oakland winless versus the Mariners this season, and have failed to score more than 3 runs in 7 matchups with Seattle. The M’s are lighting it up from the plate with 7.4 runs per game over their last 10, while the A’s are limping toward the finish line with 61 total runs allowed over their last 10. 

The Mariners are playing well but they can’t afford to lose right now with the Astros and Rangers hot on their heels. Seattle needs to remain undefeated against Oakland in order to stay atop the division, but the M’s should have no problem beating the lowly A’s.
