The game starts at 12:10 PM EST in Miami’s Tropicana Field. Odds favor the Rays at -140, while the Marlins come in at +115. The O/U total is set at 6.5 runs.

The Rays Falter, But Remain The Favorites

The Tampa Bay Rays began the season 13-0, tying the best start in MLB history. It was a tremendous achievement, but unfortunately, the Rays have not been able to keep pace with their blistering start. Tampa Bay is 61-42, and after leading the AL East all season, the Rays now find themselves 2.5 games back for the top spot. Tampa has struggled in the second half of the season, going 3-7 since returning from the All-Star break, but maintain a +144 run differential, and win 66.7% of their games at home. 

The Miami Marlins are 54-47, but just like the Rays, Miami is not off to a great start in the second half of the season. In their last 10 games, the Marlins went 2-8, scoring just 3.5 runs per game. The Marlins have fallen to 5th in the National League. The Marlins have not played the Rays this season, but last year Miami went 0-4 against Tampa. 

I like the Rays in this one. Both teams have struggled this month, but the Rays are fantastic at home, while Miami is an abysmal 1-9 in their last 10 road games.
