The Padres Take On Their Division Leaders

The San Diego Padres are 54-55. A disappointing record that is giving them little chance to make the postseason. In their last 10 games the Padres went 6-4, averaging 5.0 runs and 9.0 hits, but on Friday they face the NL West leading Dodgers, who San Diego has struggled mightily to beat. The Padres are 1-5 against LA this season, averaging a lowly 2.0 runs per game against the Dodgers. 

Los Angeles is 61-45 this season, leading the NL West and coming in at No. 2 in the National League. The Dodgers are 8.5 games up on the Padres and have absolutely dominated San Diego this year, winning 5 of their 6 matchups against their Southern California rivals. The Dodgers went 5-5 in their last 10, averaging 5.7 runs and 9.3 hits. 

I like the Dodgers in this one. They are 2-1 in San Diego this year and are coming off a 10 run, 13 hit win over the A’s on Wednesday. The Padres allow the fewest-run in the NL at 428, but the Dodgers have recorded 92 more runs than San Diego on the year. In an offense vs. defense showdown, I am going with offense.
