The Most Infamous Rivalry In Baseball
For the 2,269th time, the Boston Red Sox will face the New York Yankees. The Red Sox vs. Yankees rivalry is one of the oldest and most well-known in the MLB. Their storied history, which incompasses everything from the 1919 trade of Babe Ruth from Boston to New York which sparked the “Curse of the Bambino”, to the infamous 2004 ALCS series where the Red Sox came back from an 0-3 deficit to beat the Yankees, this rivalry has seen it all.
This year however, neither the Red Sox nor the Yankees are having a great season. The Red Sox are 63-58 putting them 4th in the AL East, while the Yankees are last in the division with a 60-61 record. Neither side has a favorable chance to make the postseason, but Boston can feel good about the fact that they have dominated their bitter New York rivals this season, going 5-1 against the Yankees this year.
I like the Red Sox in this one. They seem to have the Yankees number this season, and with New York winning just 2 of their last 10, the Yankees aren’t inspiring much confidence. It’s been a turbulent season for both Boston and New York, but when they face each other, the Red Sox have clearly been top dog.
