The Mets Are On The Rise

The New York Mets were last year’s breakout team, recording over 100 wins for the first time in 36 years. But in their encore performance, the Mets have not lived up to our lofty expectations. They are 4th in the NL East with a 45-50 record, and unless they turn things around quickly, the Mets will likely miss the playoffs. Averaging 4.5 runs scored and 4.5 runs against, the Mets are an aggressively average team. They are 11th in the National League and 22nd in the MLB, and have failed to set themselves apart in any meaningful way. 

The Boston Red Sox on the other hand are having a better than expected season, they just have the misfortune of competing in the AL East, the best division in baseball. Every team in the Red Sox division is above .500, meaning even though Boston is 51-46, they are just 1 game out of last place in the AL East. What’s kept them above .500 is their batting, as the Red Sox rank 3rd in total hits with 877, which is 9.04 hits per game. 

This one is tough to predict, but both sides are not known for their defense, and we are expecting a high scoring game.
