The Mariners Extend Their Winning-Streak

The Baltimore Orioles sit atop the American League with a 70-44 record, but on Friday Baltimore lost 2-9 against the red-hot Seattle Mariners, who now have 8-straight wins under their belt. The pressure is mounting for Seattle to continue their winning streak, but after Friday’s convincing victory, the M’s have silenced the doubters. 

With a 63-52 record, the Mariners have climbed the AL West standings, and are now just 5.5 games back from leading the division. Seattle went 9-1 in their last 10, averaging 5.3 runs per game, giving up just 2.8 runs to their opponents. The Mariners can thank their pitching staff for the incredible run, as Seattle now has the 2nd-best ERA in the MLB at 3.72. 

I like the Mariners in this one. The Orioles have played great all season, but Seattle is in fine form, and Baltimore will be hard pressed to stop this streak. The Orioles went 6-4 in their last 10, averaging 5.4 runs for and 4.2 runs against, but in Friday’s loss Baltimore recorded just 4 hits and gave up 3 home runs to the Mariners. On the back of Friday’s impressive win, Seattle will extend their winning streak, and could even sweep the AL leading Orioles.
