The LA Angels Are In A Slump
The Angels are 45-47 on the season, but in their last 10 they are 1-9. It’s been a horrendous month for the Angels, who are 1-7 in July, averaging just 3.87 runs per game. LA lost 5-7 to the Astros on Friday, showing even with the All-Star break the Angels just don’t have it this season. Superstar Shohei Ohtani has been the lone bright spot for LA, but reports of him leaving the Angels have flooded the airwaves. The Angels have no problem scoring, thanks in no small part to Ohtani, but their pitching and defense has been shaky, and against the reigning champs, the Angels don’t have a prayer.
The Houston Astros are 51-41 on the season, 6.0 games up on the Angels. They beat them on Friday despite Ohtani starting on the mound, recording less hits, and not seeing a single home run. The Angels are just that bad I guess, or maybe the 2022 World Series champs still have some magic left, even without two of their best players, Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve. I’m not expecting much from the Angels on Sunday, and the Astros will take care of business once again.
So for our Astros vs. Angels expert pick, take the Houston Astros to win on Saturday.
