The Diamondbacks Nearly Swept The League Leaders
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 2nd in the NL West with a 54-43 record, putting them just 2.0 games behind the division leading Dodgers. Arizona is 4-6 in their last 10, but recorded back-to-back wins over the Atlanta Braves, scoring 21 runs in just two games, but could not complete the sweep, losing 5-7 on Thursday. The Diamondbacks are a dark horse team, as not many expected them to be competing for the lead in the NL West. Arizona has done most of their damage on the road, winning nearly 60% of their away games, making them a dangerous opponent to host.
The Cincinnati Reds are another surprising success story this season. After winning a lowly 62 games last year, the Reds are just 10 wins away from tying their previous win total. At 52-46, the Reds are 2nd in the NL Central and 8th in the National League, just 2.5 games behind Arizona. Much like the Diamondbacks, the Reds have been brilliant on the road, going 27-20 in away games, but unfortunately they will be at home on Friday, where they have a 49% win-rate.
I like the Diamondbacks in this one. The Reds are coming off back-to-back wins, but went 3-7 in their last 10, while Arizona will be brimming with confidence after scoring 26 runs in their last 3 games, and nearly sweeping the league leaders.
