The Cubbies Are Red-Hot Right Now 

The Chicago Cubs are just above .500 with a 54-53 record, but after winning 8 of their last 10 games, the Cubbies are just 4.0 games back from first place in the NL Central. Coincidentally, Chicago is playing the team they are chasing up the standings, the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are 59-50, but are coming off a horrendous 9-20 loss against the Cubs on Tuesday. 

I like the Cubs in this one. They have all the momentum on their side after Tuesday’s crushing defeat over the Reds. Chicago averaged 7.5 runs per game over their last 10 matchups and 11.1 hits. The Reds may lead the division, but averaged just 4.9 runs per game in their last 10 and are certainly feeling the string after losing by 11 runs. The Cubs are not likely to score 20 runs again on Thursday, but with a 60.7% chance to win according to ESPN Analytics, I like their odds to grab another win over the Reds.
