The Atlanta Braves Are Making It Look Easy

The San Francisco Giants get the privilege to play the MLB’s best team of the 2023 season, and I’m sure they’re thrilled. The Giants are 64-57 right now, putting them 2nd in the NL West, 5th in the National League, and 11th in the MLB. The Giants are a decent team but went 3-7 in the last 10 games, recording 3.7 runs, 7.5 hits, 0.8 home runs, and 5.1 runs against per game, and are not their best on the road, posting a 29-29 record in away games. 

The Atlanta Braves are the team to beat. At 78-42 (win-rate: 65%), they are the most feared opponents in the MLB. The Braves have been off the charts this season, recording the best run differential (+208), the most runs (702), the best batting average (.274), the best on-base percentage (.345), the most RBIs (678), and the most home runs (232) in the MLB. Atlanta went 8-2 in their last 10 games, averaging 7.7 runs, 11.2 hits, 1.9 home runs, and 3.1 runs against, shutting their opponents out in 4 of the last 7. 

I like the Braves in this one. Atlanta is playing with the fire of a champion. They are coming off a 3-0 sweep of the New York Yankees, and are 9-1 in their last 10 home games. The Giants won’t be able to stymie Atlanta’s momentum, and San Francisco will fall to the Braves in their first matchup of the season.
