Texas Looks To Overcome Ohtani and The Angels | Angels vs Rangers | OSB
Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers: Analysis, Prediction, and Betting Tips
Sam Batz
The MLB regular season continues on Wednesday, June 14th with the Los Angeles Angels taking on the Texas Rangers at home (8:05 PM EST, Fox Sports West/Bally Sports/MLB Extra Innings). The Angels beat the Rangers 9-6 on Monday behind Shohei Ohtani’s 2 home run, 4 RBI performance. Ohtani now leads the AL with 20 dingers and is being praised as the best-played in baseball this season. The Rangers top-batter, Marcus Semien, leads the team with 79 hits in 65 games, but in 7 AB’s on Monday, Semien failed to get on base a single time. According to the most recent MLB Power Rankings from ESPN, the Rangers are No. 2 and the Angels are No. 17 in the MLB, and although Texas is the favorite in Wednesday’s matchup, Los Angeles always has a chance thanks to Shohei Ohtani.
The Los Angeles Angels (+1.5; ML +130)
The LA Angels are on the rise, and with a 37-31 (54.4%) record, they are 3rd in the AL West, 7th in the American League, and 11th in the MLB. The Angels have two of the most recognizable names in baseball with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, and when those two are on, the Angels are tough to beat. The issue for LA is they rely too heavily on Trout and Ohtani, and when they have the occasional off day, the rest of the Angels lineup struggles to pick up the slack. But despite their lack of depth, the Angels are one of the hottest teams in baseball, and after going 7-3 in their last 10 and beating the Rangers on Monday, LA will enter Wednesday’s matchup with a lot of confidence. However, regardless of the Angels confidence level, they are still facing one of the top-teams in the league, and need their star players to have a huge game against their division rivals on Wednesday.
The Texas Rangers (-1.5; ML -140)
The Texas Rangers are 41-24 (63.1%), putting them in 1st place in the AL West, 2nd place in the American League, and 2nd place in the MLB. Texas is the real deal, as they lead the league in runs (406), hits (622), batting average (.273), RBIs (389), and run differential (+146). However the Rangers went 6-4 in their last 10 and are coming off back-to-back losses. But Texas remains a juggernaut in the MLB, averaging 6.25 runs per game, while giving up just 4.0 runs per game to their opponents. Unlike the Angels, the Rangers don’t need to rely on 1 or 2 players to win games, as they are incredibly well-rounded with players in every position capable of making a game winning play.

Angels vs. Rangers Prediction
Take the Rangers to beat the Angels on Wednesday, June 14th. Statistically speaking, the Rangers are miles ahead of the Angels, leading them in nearly every category except home runs. LA has 10 more home runs than Texas, which could come back to haunt the Rangers as their probable starting pitcher for Wednesday, Andrew Heaney, has given up 10 home runs in 63 innings pitched. However, LA’s probable starting pitcher, Reid Detmers, is 1-5 and averages 1.11 hits against per inning. Against Texas’ prolific batting, Detmers will struggle, and the Rangers will jump out to an early lead, but unlike Monday’s matchup, Texas will remain in the driver’s seat.
Prediction: Texas Rangers Moneyline (-125)
