Tampa Bay’s Dark Horse Dominance Continues

Entering the 2022-23 MLB season, not many would have predicted the Tampa Bay Rays would be where they are today. At 83-55, the Rays are one of the best teams in the MLB this season. In the AL, the Rays have the 2nd-most runs scored (735) and the fewest runs against (551), resulting in the AL’s best run differential (+184). Additionally, the Rays win 65.22% of their home games, giving them a clear edge over any team who travels to Tropicana Field. 

The Red Sox are a respectable 72-66, but because of the intensely competitive nature of the AL East, Boston is not expected to make the playoffs. However, they are coming off a 7-3 victory over the Rays on Monday, which could give the Red Sox a much needed boost. Unfortunately, Monday’s win was a fluke, as Boston is a lowly 2-7 against the Rays this season. The Red Sox will be hard pressed to beat the Rays a second time at home, which is why I like Tampa Bay in this one.
