Surging Seattle Host’s The Turbulent Tigers
The Detroit Tigers have not finished a season with a winning record since 2016, and with their current record at 39-50, it’s not looking good for the Tigers. They have a losing record both at home and on the road, but in away games, Detroit’s win-rate is just 43.2%. They are 25-36 against the AL this season, and are 2-8 against the Mariners in their last 10 meetings. Averaging a lowly 3.89 runs per game, the Detroit Tigers are destined to struggle against Seattle’s top-10 defense.
After hosting the 2023 MLB All-Star game, the Seattle Mariners get to stay home for their first series after the midsummer classic. With a middling 45-44 record, the Mariners are just above .500, 6.0 games out of first place in the AL West, but are 6.0 games up on the Detroit Tigers in the American League. Seattle won 7 of their last 10 games before heading into the All-Star break, and post the 5th best run differential in the AL at +36. Seattle’s top-notch defense, which is allowing just 4.1 runs per game, will keep the Tigers caged up, and the Mariners will continue their hot streak against Detroit.
So for our Tigers vs. Mariners expert pick, take the Seattle Mariners to win on Saturday.
