Struggling Padres visit Tigers

The Padres have now lost two in a row as they moved to 54-44 on the season. They are now 2.5 games ahead of the last Wild Card spot. They are 11.5 games behind the Dodgers so it seems that the division has slipped out of reach. 

The Tigers are now 39-58 on the season. They have been caught and passed by the Royals and they are now last in the AL West. They have lost seven of their last ten. They also had to send their top prospect back down to Triple A.

This is a great pitching matchup. Yu Darvish will be on the mound against Tarik Skubal. Skubal has been pretty good this season with a 7-8 record and a 3.88 ERA. Darvish has been even better with a 9-4 record and a 3.28 ERA. I don’t want to pick a winner here as both of these teams have been tough to predict lately. But I think both of these pitchers continue their good seasons.
