Strasburg’s return
The Marlins are now 23-30. They are underperforming in my opinion. They are actually one of three teams in the MLB under 500 that have a positive run differential. This is largely due to their ridiculous pitching staff led by Sandy Alcantara and Pablo Lopez. They both rank within the top five in NL Cy Young odds. They are coming off a game where Jazz Chisolm hit two home runs and drove in two runs.
The Nationals are 21-36 on the season. They actually have the second worst run differential in baseball as they only sit in front of the Royals who hold the worst record in the MLB at 17-35. The Nats are coming off of a 12-2 loss to the Marlins where they were dominated.
Stephen Strasburg will be back on the mound for the Nats for the first time in a year. The 33 year old won World Series MVP in 2019 but since then has only made seven starts. The Marlins will have Taylor Rogers here and he has been decent this season but not great. Strasburg has been incredible in his rehab starts and at his peak he is a top five pitcher. I know he will be on a pitch count though.
