St. Louis Enjoys Short Winning Streak
The St. Louis Cardinals are not having a good season. The Cardinals, who are used to being a juggernaut in the NL Central, are 54-66. St. Louis is currently 4th in the division, 12th in the National League, and 24th in the MLB. The Cardinals post a -22 run differential but went 6-4 in their last 10, averaging 4.9 runs, 10.0 hits, 1.7 home runs, and 4.5 runs against, and have 3 straight wins under their belt, their longest streak since mid-July.
The New York Mets have fallen short of expectations. After securing a playoff spot last season for the first time since 2016, the Mets looked ready to turn the franchise around. Unfortunately for Mets fans, that did not come to pass, as the Mets are 55-66 with less than a 1% chance to make the playoffs. New York is 4th in the NL East, 11th in the National League, and 22nd in the MLB. The Mets were 5-5 in their last 10, and averaged 4.6 runs, 7.9 hits, 1.6 home runs, and 6.0 runs against.
I like the under in this matchup. The Cardinals and Mets are two evenly matched sides, making a winner tough to predict. But neither side has been particularly impressive at the plate, averaging less than 5 runs in their last 10 respectively.
So for our Mets vs. Cardinals expert pick, take the Under on 10 runs for Thursday.
