St. Louis Continues To Slide Down The Standings

The St. Louis Cardinals are not having a good year, and after going 3-7 in their last 10, St. Louis now sits at the bottom of the NL Central. The Cardinals are 49-64, putting them 11.0 games back on the division leading Brewers, lending little to hope for St. Louis to see the postseason. The Cardinals have been great at the plate, recording the 6th-most hits on the season with 997, but their pitching has been less than ideal, posting the 8th-worst ERA and the 2nd-most hits allowed. 

The Tampa Bay Rays remain one of the best teams in the MLB. At 68-46, the Rays are 2nd in both the AL East and the American League as a whole, giving them a solid shot at the playoffs. It would actually be shocking if the Rays didn’t make the postseason, as they have been phenomenal this season, posting a +147 run differential. After a 9-game road trip, the Rays are back home. Tampa has a 66% win-rate at home, and the St. Louis Cardinals will be hard pressed to upset the Rays in this one.
