Slumping Padres host Giants

The Padres are coming off of a big trade deadline as they acquired a top five player in baseball in Juan Soto. This hasn’t led to immediate success though as they have now lost four straight games after being swept by the Dodgers. They are now 61-50 on the season as they await Fernando Tatis’ return.

The Giants have won back-to-back games against the A’s. These were much needed wins as the Giants had been slumping for a long time. They are now 53-55 on the season. 

I love the Padres here. Despite getting swept by the Dodgers they are still a much better team than the Giants here. Not to mention the Dodgers will have their ace Joe Musgrove on the mound. Musgrove is 8-5 with a 3.00 ERA on the season and is still a CY Young candidate. He will be facing Alex Cobb who is 3-6 with a 4.08 ERA on the season. This new-look Padres lineup should kill him.
