Slumping Giants host NL West rival
The Padres are 70-59 on the season. They still own the third Wild Card spot in the NL but are only ahead of the Brewers by 1.5 games. They have been just treading water lately as they are 5-5 in their last ten games. They need to figure it out before the playoffs roll around.
The Giants are slipping out of the playoff picture. They are 61-65 on the season after losing four in a row and eight of their last ten. They are now a full 7.5 games behind the last Wild Card spot in the NL.
This seems like a great pitching matchup on the surface as Logan Webb will be facing Blake Snell. Snell has been up and down this season with a 5-7 record and a 4.24 ERA. Webb has been better with a 11-7 record and a 3.33 ERA. Both of these guys haven’t been pitching too well as of late though. Webb has given up nine runs over his last 9.1 innings pitched while Snell has given up nine runs over their last 8.1 innings. Both of these guys have been killed in their last two starts.
