Slipping Jays host Cubs
The Blue Jays have now lost three in a row as they were swept by the Angels in Toronto. They are 68-58 on the season and have been passed by the Rays in the AL East. They are 1.5 games back of them and 9.5 games behind the Yankees.
The Cubs have lost back to back games to the Brewers. This moves them to 55-73 on the season. They are third in the NL Central and don’t have much to play for. They have been a very scrappy team though and continue to play teams close.
Berrios will be pitching for the Jays here and even though he has a 5.28 ERA his last two starts have been pretty good as he has gone six innings in both and given up two or less runs in each. He will face Javier Assad who is only making his second appearance. I think the Jays will hop on Assad here as his only other start was at home and now he will face one of the MLB’s best lineups in another country.
