Shohei Shines In Series Opener Versus New York

The LA Angels are having a rough season, but Shohei Ohtani has been brilliant. Ohtani has 110 hits to go along with his league leading 35 home runs. He hit the 35th home run in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game 3-3 in the Angels 4-3 win over the Yankees on Monday. All eyes are on Ohtani when he’s at the plate, and the Angels will rely on their superstar once again to keep them in the game once again versus the Yankees. 

New York is 50-45 after their loss to the Angels on Monday, and the Yankees remain in last place in the demanding AL East, but they haven’t done themselves any favors. The Yankees went 3-7 in their last 10, and are coming off back-to-back losses by a 1-run margin. Aaron Judge remains sidelined with his toe injury, and the Yankees are now 20-26 without the reigning AL MVP on the field. 

I like the Angels in this one, because 1) Shohei Ohtani is playing out of his mind right now and 2) New York is unreliable on the road, winning 50% of their away games.
