Shohei Ohtani Takes The Mound Against Seattle

The Seattle Mariners are fighting to stay in the running for a shot at the playoffs. Seattle is 4th in the AL West with a 55-52 record, 6 games behind the division leading Rangers, but only half a game behind the 3rd place Angels. LA has a 56-52 record, and are looking to make a postseason push as well. The Angels haven’t seen the playoffs since 2014 but behind Shohei Ohtani, who has become arguably the best player in the MLB, LA is looking to rally. 

I like the Angels in this one. Ohtani is expected to pitch on Thursday in his first start after throwing the first shutout of his career on July 27th. Ohtani is 9-5 with a 3.51 ERA this season, but what makes him a killer is his ability at the plate. He leads the MLB with 39 home runs and has the 6th-most hits with 121, making him a dire threat at the plate. The Mariners are 2-4 against the Angels this season and do not travel particularly well, giving Los Angeles the edge.
