Red Sox look to Bounce Back after the Break 

The Boston Red Sox conclude a 17-game stretch against American League East opponents when they begin a three-game home series Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Boston, which entered Thursday two games back in the wild-card standings, will look to make up ground in the race after losing twice against the New York Yankees on the road last weekend. We all remember that the Boston Red Sox got hot around the midway point in the season, which took them all the way into a secure spot in the wild card position. But since that point, the team has lost seven of their last ten games and are on a two game losing streak heading into the break and now are back on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. Unfortunately for them, they’re going up against one of the three teams above them in the division standings in the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays have relatively underperformed compared to what their expectations were heading into the season, but they have won three in a row, including taking two of the three-game series. The last time these two teams matched up.
