Red Sox Enjoy a Nice Stretch of Wins

The Red Sox are 55-47 on the season, and although they are 6th in the American League, they are 1 game away from last place in the AL East. Boston won 6 of their last 10, collecting 4 straight on their way to facing the Giants. The Red Sox are averaging 6.5 runs per game over their short winning streak, and are coming off an impressive set of wins over the MLB leading Atlanta Braves. 

The San Francisco Giants are 56-47, putting them 3.0 games out of first in the NL West, and 9.5 games out of first in the National League. The Giants went 4-6 in their last 10, but are coming off back-to-back wins over the Oakland Athletics, snapping a 6-game losing streak. The Giants are 10-11 in July, but will look to get things back on track against the Boston Red Sox on Friday, in what will be just the 19th all-time matchup between the two franchises.
