Ok, let’s get to our Cleveland vs Tampa Bay prediction. 

Guardians Advance 

Although we are still only in late July, instead of a couple months left in the baseball season, both these teams need wins. Both these teams are currently fighting heavily for playoff contention, and although the only way the Rays will presumably get into the playoffs will be in a wild card spot, the Guardians are in a position where they could either get a wild card spot or take their division. The Guardians currently are only 1.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins for the Division lead and are now in a two game-winning streak as the Twins are in a two game losing streak. Cleveland’s schedule has really allowed them to take matters into their own hands in terms of their playoff positioning and the teams around them. Their last two series have been against the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox, two teams within three games of them in the playoff standings. They were able to get much needed wins in those series to advance their placement and now are able to face the Tampa Bay Rays, yet another team who is close to them. 

The Rays have had an up and down season in which they started pretty hot and were somewhat on par with the Yankees, but then fell all the way at one point to 4th in their divisional standings, but now recently went on a multi digit winning streak which has brought them back into the playoff mix, and has them currently sitting at 53-46. The run total is only being set at 6.5 runs, which is kind of surprising when the pitching matchup will be between Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Guardians and Jeffrey Springs of the Tampa Bay Rays. While Jeffrey Springs has been having a good season and has an ERA of just 2.50, Shane Bieber has an ERA of 3.55 which isn’t the best. And it most definitely isn’t a resume that would explain a run line of 6.5. However, that is exactly what the books wants you to believe, which leads this to being a perfect example of a trap line. Both these two teams have relatively struggled to put up runs against each other throughout the season, and it will continue tonight.
