The Guardians finished the season at the top of the AL Central with a 92-70 record. This was a close division up until the Guardians pulled away over the last month. Since September 1st they have been one of the best teams in baseball with a 24-10 record. This is the best record since September 1st among AL playoff teams.

The Rays finished the season on a downward trajectory. They finished the season 86-76 and they are the worst team in the AL playoffs since September 1st as they are 14-19. They aren’t playing good baseball right now as they have lost five in a row.

I like the Guardians in this one. I know Shane McClanahan is on the mound for the Rays, but the Guardians are the hottest team in baseball over the last month and the Rays are slumping. The Guardians have won 24 of their last 30 games. I think Shane Bieber will match McClanahan enough to win this game. The Rays just can’t seem to score runs right now as over their last five games they have scored eight total runs compared to the Guardians scoring 24. The Guardians scored more in their last game than the Rays did in their last five.
