Streaking Phillies look to distance themselves in Wild Card race
The Phillies have now won four games in a row. They are now 79-62 on the season and they have a 3.5 game lead on the Brewers who are chasing all these Wild Card teams. They should take advantage of these last two games against the Marlins to continue inching closer to a playoff berth.
The Marlins have been terrible over the last two months or so. They are now 58-84 on the season and they have lost three of their last seven games. They have a -102 run differential.
This is a decent pitching matchup as Noah Syndergaard will be facing Pablo Lopez. Lopez has fallen off after starting the season on fire. He is now 8-10 with a 4.04 ERA. Syndergaard is 3-1 with a 4.40 ERA with the Phillies. The Phillies are on fire and the Marlins have statistically been one of the worst hitting teams in MLB history. These pitchers are pretty even but the Marlins are completely outmatched offensively.
