I’m Coming Right Back With My Athletics vs Mariners Pick and Prediction for Thursday’s game.
This is the first game of a four-game series between the Oakland Athletics and the Seattle Mariners. The last time these two faced, the Oakland Athletics secured a 6-0 win over the Mariners. With Oakland still in the race to get to the top of the AL West, a winning series over the Mariners will do well for positioning.
The First Pitch gets thrown on Thursday, July 22 at 10:10 PM ET and takes place at T-Mobile Park.

The Mariners are following closely behind the Athletics in the AL West and can overtake them with a series win here. The only thing is, the Mariners would need a sweep to close the four-game lead the Athletics have on them.
In their last series, the Athletics traveled to Seattle and won two out of a three-game series. This gives the Mariners a chance to get some payback on the Athletics this week. The Athletics have lost a few series leading up to this one against Seattle. They struggled against the Cleveland Indians, the Boston Red Sox, and the Houston Astros. Oakland Athletics Preview
The Oakland Athletics are only a few games back from gaining control of the AL West. Unfortunately, the team has had some hiccups over the last few weeks. They’ll get a chance to gain some momentum against a team they’ve had success against in the past. Sean Manaea will get the start on the mound for the Athletics in the first game. Manaea has an even 6-6 record as a starter, with an ERA of 3.28.
The main problem the Athletics have had, especially over the last few weeks has been at the plate. For the season, they have an overall batting average that ranks just over 20th in the league. With their problems at the plate, the Athletics have had trouble with some of the better pitching teams in the league. The good news for the Athletics is that the Mariners aren’t a very good pitching team.
Seattle Mariners Preview
The Mariners struggled closing out games and it could prove troublesome against the Athletics. The fact is, these teams match up rather well, so it will come down to who makes the right plays at the right time. The Mariners recently had a long stretch of six games against the Los Angeles Angels and the Rockies won four of the six games.
Chris Flexen is the expected starter for Seattle in this game. Flexen has been great, and is seeking his 10th win of the season. He sits with a 3.35 earned run average as well. The Seattle offense is scoring 4.1 runs per game, but the worst in MLB with a .220 batting average. Mitch Haniger leads the Mariners with 22 homeruns, but is hitting just .266.
