NL East Rivals Go Head-to-Head in Wild Card Round

The Philadelphia Phillies, last year’s World Series runner-up, are back in the postseason with hopes to get back to the Championship series in order to avenge themselves. The Phillies finished as the 4th-best team in the NL, going 90-72 during the regular season, finishing 6.0 games up on the Miami Marlins. The Marlins narrowly clinched a Wild Card berth, but will look to upset their NL East rivals in the opening round of Miami’s second playoff appearance in the last decade.

I like the Philadelphia Phillies in this one. Miami was the 5th-best team in the NL, recording an 84-77 record, and a 7-6 record against Philadelphia, but the Marlins lack postseason experience, and are facing a team that was in the World Series last year. Honestly, it’s shocking the Marlins made the playoffs, as they recorded the fewest runs scored in the NL (666), gave up a middling 723 runs against, and finished with a -57 run differential. Philly on the other hand recorded a +81 run differential, and are clearly the favorites to make it out of this Wild Card series.

So for our Marlins vs. Phillies expert pick, take the Philadelphia Phillies Moneyline for Game 2 on Wednesday.
