Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers: Analysis, Prediction, and Betting Tips

Sam Batz

DBACKS VS BREWERS

The MLB season continues on Tuesday, June 20th with a battle between two division leaders, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers (8:10 PM EST, Bally Sports/MLB Extra Innings). The revamped Diamondbacks top the NL West, while the Brewers lead the NL Central. Both teams are having fantastic season’s and are each expected to make the postseason. The Brewers and Diamondbacks played a 3-game series in Arizona back in April, making this the second series of the season, but now with Milwaukee playing host. The Diamondbacks won 2 out of the 3 games in the first series against the Brewers, scoring 11 total runs to Milwaukee’s 10, setting the series up to be an evenly matched showdown.

The Arizona Diamondbacks  (+1.5; ML +105)

The Diamondbacks have not made the postseason since 2017. Last year, the Dbacks went 74-88, but after an impressive turnaround, they now have a 59% chance to reach the playoffs for the first time in six seasons. Arizona is 43-29 (59.7%), putting them in 1st place in the NL West, 2nd place in the National League, and 5th place in the MLB. In their last 10 games, the Diamondbacks went 6-4, averaging 5.6 runs and 5.9 runs against per matchup. They are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Cleveland Guardians, but lost their most recent game 3-12, making Arizona a +105 (ML) underdog against the Brewers.

The Milwaukee Brewers (-1.5; ML -115)

The Milwaukee Brewers are leading the NL Central with a 37-34 (52.1%) record, giving them a 0.5 game advantage over the Cincinnati Reds. The Brewers are 7th in the National League and 14th in the MLB, putting them 5.5 games behind the Diamondbacks. Milwaukee missed out on the playoffs last season, but are projected to finish with an 84-78 record, giving them a 61% chance to make it back to the postseason. In their last 10 games, the Brewers went 4-6, averaging 4.4 runs and 4.0 runs allowed per game. Milwaukee ranks 25th in total runs, yet despite their lack of offensive production, they enter Tuesday’s matchup against Arizona as -115 (ML) favorites.

Diamondbacks vs. Brewers Prediction

Take the Diamondbacks to beat the Brewers on Tuesday, June 20th. Arizona’s offense far outclasses the Brewers. Milwaukee is 29th in the league for total hits (531) and batting average (.228). The Brewers have a decent defense, giving up the 10th fewest runs (305), but they can’t hit, averaging just 7.48 hits per game, while the Diamondbacks are averaging 8.93 hits per game.

Milwaukee is at their best when playing at home (win-rate: 56.8%), but Arizona travels well, winning 64.5% of their away games. The Diamondbacks are the 5th-best team in the MLB record-wise, while the Brewers are 14th, and I expect Arizona to demonstrate their superiority over Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks Moneyline (+105)
