New-look Padres host Giants

The Padres are coming off of a big trade deadline as they acquired a top five player in baseball in Juan Soto. This hasn’t led to immediate success though as they have lost their last three games. They are now 61-49 on the season as they await Fernando Tatis’ return.

The Giants have won back-to-back games against the A’s. These were much needed wins as the Giants had been slumping for a long time. They are now 53-55 on the season. 

I like the under here. Alex Wood and Blake Snell will be taking the bump here. Wood is 7-9 with a 4.42 ERA while Snell is 4-5 with a 4.16 ERA. If you look closer though you will see these guys are much better than their numbers indicate. Wood has the biggest difference in the MLB between expected ERA and actual ERA. He has basically been the unluckiest pitcher in the MLB. Snell started slow but in his last three starts he is 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA.
