Michigan season wins o/u 7.5 prediction
To say that the Michigan Wolverines had a tough 2020 would be a gross understatement. They were nearly the worst team in the Big Ten with a record of 2-4. This season, coach Jim Harbaugh is preaching accountability. Saying that the Wolverines will “beat their rivals, or die trying.”. This is big talk from the Wolverines, and definitely something we’ve heard from them before. They entered the 2020 season ranked 16th in the AP, and rose to 13th after winning the season opener. From then on, the Wolverines couldn’t live up to any rank they were given.
This year, analysts have low expectations for the Michigan Wolverines 2021. It seems as if sportsbooks do as well with the expected win total. Per BetOnline, the wins total is currently at 7.5, leaving them with an 8-4 record if they were to go over the total. Now you have to ask yourself, what you expect from a team that’s let so many down. Can they win eight games? Or are they more likely to have a repeat of the 2020 season?
How Long Can Harbaugh Take Advantage Of Michigan?
To be fair to Harbaugh, 2020 was the Wolverines first losing season since 2014. However, to put the pressure back on him, they haven’t won a bowl game since 2015. For four straight seasons when the Wolverines reached a bowl game, they lost. This kind of ineptitude to capitalize has to have seriously put his job in jeopardy, right? Wrong! Harbaugh has his hands firmly around the Wolverines organization even though he hasn’t delivered a bowl victory in five years. What does that tell you about Michigan’s new “accountability stance”?
It’s essentially just another press move Harbaugh is using to get the heat off of him. By using the term “accountability” he can place blame on players and fellow staff. This will leave it up to the organization to take a look at Harbaugh’s coaching over the last five years. When they do, they should see it might be best to move on from the head coach.
The Quarterback Question Still Exists.
Jim Harbaugh came into the Wolverines organization as a coach who knew how to develop quarterbacks. Unfortunately, not one of the Michigan QB’s has been consistent. In an interesting move by Michigan, they brought in former Texas Tech QB Alan Bowman. Bowman is a great option for a quarterback when he’s healthy, but why didn’t they stick with McNamara?
Cade McNamara hit 61% of his passes, threw for 425 yards and 5 touchdowns. This is all without him being the starting quarterback for Michigan. Maybe they wanted a former starter? The question still remains though, who will be under center for Michigan come the start of the season?
Over Or Under, What’s The Best Bet?
This turns into the concern of the games Michigan Football should win versus what they will win. For instance, last season they should’ve beat Michigan State but didn’t. The faith in the Wolverines is gone and with BetOnline setting the win total at 7.5, this becomes a tough one.
Can we trust Harbaugh to actually follow through on holding himself and others accountable? We think not, which is why you should take the under here. The 7.5 win total means they’d have to win 8 games, and more than likely this will push. Instead of taking the over, take the under since there are still questions at quarterback.
