Mets Shock The Braves In Series Opener
The 59-67 New York Mets upset the league leading 80-44 Atlanta Braves on Monday. New York was locked in, recording 14 hits, 3 home runs, and 10 RBIs on their way to a 10-4 victory over the MLB’s best. The Mets are now 3-8 against the Braves this season, and while they remain the underdogs in the series, Monday’s win will certainly boost New York’s spirits.
The Mets are 18-35 (33.96%) as underdogs and 9-25 (26.47%) as underdogs on the road, yet they defied the odds and rallied for one of the biggest wins of New York’s season. The Mets nearly doubled their 7.91 hits per game total on Monday, and will need to replicate that performance in order to beat the Braves again. But that is certainly easier said than done, especially against Atlanta.
I like the Braves in this one. Atlanta has the best offense in the MLB, recording the most runs (719), the best batting average (.274), the most home runs (237), and the 2nd-most hits (1161). The Mets won’t replicate Monday’s performance, and with the Braves now out for retaliation, New York is in their cross hairs.
So for our Mets vs. Braves expert pick, take the Atlanta Braves Runline (-1.5) at +110 for Wednesday.
