Marlins look to bounceback against streaking Pirates

The Marlins were playing very well before two in a row to the Pirates. They are now 41-45 on the season and are still only five games out of the last Wild Card spot. They may look to trade for a bat at the deadline as their pitching has been great. 

The Pirates are now 38-50 on the season. They are coming off of four straight impressive wins, two over the Marlins and two of over the Brewers. The Pirates are a worse team than their record shows though as they have the second worst run differential in the MLB.

This total is this low not because of the pitchers but because both of these offenses aren’t very good. The Marlins are averaging 2.33 runs a game over their last nine games. The Pirates also aren’t very good offensively. On the bump will be Braxton Garrett for the Marlins and Zach Thompson for the Pirates. Both of these guys have ERAs under 4.4 and are a combined 4-9 on the season. I think these offenses will finally get over the hump.
