The NL East division has surprisingly been the most winning divisions in all of Major League Baseball in the last 10 games. This division has won 36 of their last 50 games, and this game showcases two of the teams that had big factors on those numbers. Just ten games ago, the Miami Marlins in Philadelphia Phillies were looking like the season was going absolutely down the drain, and although they’ve both gone on big winning streaks, we aren’t confident enough to say that they will make the playoffs yet. But there is a little glimmer of hope. The Phillies have won nine of their last ten games, including a nine game winning streak, and the Marlins have won seven of their last ten games, including a six game winning streak. Both streaks were snapped in their games previous to this game as the Phillies lost 13 to one to the Diamondbacks, and the Marlins lost nine to four to the Houston Astros. 

Now the question is which team will bounce back from their rough loss quicker, and try to start another winning streak. Expect that to be the Miami Marlins for a couple reasons. First off, the Phillies are coming off a horrendous loss against a team they should have beat and that will stick with them. And secondly, I believe that the Marlins have the better the pitching matchup in this one. Although the numbers would say that the Phillies’s Zach Eflin is better than the Marlins’s Trevor Rogers, we have to remember that Trevor Rogers was the favorite for rookie of the year before getting injured, just one season ago. Expect a performance from him tonight to remind us of that.
