Mariners Falter on Their Path to The Playoffs

An AL West matchup between the Angels and Mariners opened on Monday with the Angels beating the Mariners 8-5. Wednesday will be the 13th matchup of the season between LA and Seattle, and is also the last time the two west coast rivals will face each other this season. The M’s hold a slight advantage over the Angels with a 6-5 record in the season series, but this has been a tough matchup to predict. 

The Mariners are 79-65, putting them 11.5 games up on the 68-77 Angels, but Seattle is slumping after 4 consecutive losses and a 3-7 record in their last 10. The Angels are coming off a victory over the Mariners despite superstar Shohei Ohtani absences. However, the Mariners have a superstar of their own in Julio Rodriguez, and with a defense posting the 3rd fewest runs against (592) and the 2nd-best ERA (3.75), I like Seattle’s chances in this one.
