Kansas City’s Royally Terrible Season
The New York Mets are the latest team to face the lowly Kansas City Royals. With an abysmal 32-75 record, Kansas City has been one of the worst teams in the MLB. The Royals are last in the AL Central, and 33.5 games behind the American League leaders, KC has virtually no chance to make the playoffs. The Royals post a laughable -169 run differential and have less than 20 wins both on the road and at home. However despite winning less than 30% of their games, the Royals are on a 3-game winning streak.
The Mets are not having a great season either, and after finally qualifying for the playoffs last year after a 5-year postseason drought, the Mets are not living up to that standard. New York is 50-55 overall, putting them in 4th in the NL East and 11th in the National League. They have struggled to find any consistency, going 5-5 in their last 10, making the playoffs more of a dream than a reality.
I like the Royals in this one. Kansas City has clearly faced hardship this season, but the Royals can use their underdog status to surprise teams who underestimate them. KC scored 20 runs in the last 3 games on their way to sweeping the Twins, and will use that momentum to upset the Mets.
So for our Mets vs. Royals expert pick, go with the Kansas City Royals Moneyline on Wednesday.
