Houston Astros Overview:
The Houston Astros weren’t an early choice to win the World Series this year but are easily becoming a favorite. After a stealing signs scandal, the Astros have rebuilt their reputation this year. Their series against the White Sox is sure to be entertaining, especially because they’re two leading teams in the American League.
The Astros have been a reliable team to bet on the road. When traveling, they play well the only problem is one of their best pitchers is on the 60-day IL. Being down a strong pitcher in a series against the White Sox, who have the fourth-best team batting average, is going to hurt. We have to wonder whether the Astros can overcome being on the road, and down a dominant pitcher.
Chicago White Sox Overview:
We’ve already mentioned that the White Sox have one of the best overall batting averages. What we haven’t mentioned is they have the fourth-most runs in the entire MLB. Chicago also has an incredible on-base percentage, allowing them more opportunities to score runs. If the Astros weren’t worried before, they should be now.
Usually, when a team is great at the plate, they have holes in other facets of the game. Chicago isn’t one of those teams. They have an overall ERA that ranks in the top ten of the league and their BAA (Batting Average Against) is in the top ten as well. Between both of these teams, the White Sox have more all-around talent. Not to mention, they have the added benefit of being the home team.
