With around a month left of baseball, the playoff picture is heating up, especially for the Cleveland Guardians. But for Cleveland it is heating up in a bad way as this team really has to string together some wins or else they will once again be on the outside looking in. It wasn’t too long ago that Cleveland stormed into first place in this American League Central division that had been led by the Twins for the vast majority of the year. But now the Guardians have won only three of their last ten games, including losing their last four outings. This has brought the twins back to within only one game of the division lead and the surprising Chicago White Sox to within two after they have strung together four straight wins. If the guardians are overtaken by either of those two teams, not only will they fall out of the division leaders part of the playoff picture, they will also fall completely out of the wild cards spot and by a decent margin. Tonight they have a matchup against the Kansas City Royals that they absolutely have to take advantage of. The Royals have the third worst record in the American League at 54-80, But rank in the top half of the MLB in batting average. This is going to be an intense, high scoring game.
