Giants Hope to Avoid Fifth Straight Loss
The San Francisco Giants are 62-55, 8.5 games back from the top spot in the NL West. They won 4 of their last 10, averaging 3.4 runs, 6.6 hits, and 0.7 home runs, but after 4 consecutive losses, the Giants need to regroup. San Francisco went 18-8 in June, but have since fallen off, posting a 16-19 record over the last two months combined. The Giants remain the 5th-best team in the NL, but have won just 41% of their games against the American League, and face one of the AL’s best teams on Monday.
The Tampa Bay Rays are 3rd in the AL with a 71-49 record, and while the Rays have fallen off the blistering pace they set at the beginning of the season, they remain one of the MLB’s top-tier teams. Tampa won 5 of their last 10, averaging 4.9 runs, 9.1 hits, and 1.2 home runs per game. The Rays are a decent road team, winning 53.5% of their away games, and are 20-18 against the NL, but against the struggling Giants, Tampa Bay will win the series opener on Monday thanks to their superior skills at the plate.
So for our Rays vs. Giants expert pick, take the Tampa Bay Rays Moneyline on Monday.
