Giants Fall Behind In Wild Card Race

The San Francisco Giants are gearing up to host the Cincinnati Reds for the first time this season. The series opener is on Monday, but here we’ll focus on Tuesday’s matchup. The Giants and Reds are currently tied 2-2 after a mid-July series that saw 3 of its 4 games decided by 2 or fewer runs. The Giants and Reds are neck-and-neck in the National League, with both sides posting a 51.5% win-rate on the season. 

It will be a close game, but I like the Reds in this one. The Giants are slumping after going 3-7 in their last 10, and will enter the series with little confidence. Cincinnati may possess the 6th-worst bullpens in the MLB, in terms of ERA (4.74), but they’ve scored 73 more runs than the Giants this season, and are surprisingly adequate on the road (37-30).
