Ok, let’s get to our Boston vs Baltimore prediction.
Division Teams Battle
Tonight, the Boston Red Sox will travel to take on the Baltimore Orioles in a game that not many believe will have playoff implications later on. The Orioles and Red Sox both at one point when the thick of wild card contention after the Orioles went on a 10 game-winning streak and the Red Sox won nine in a row. But since then, it has been plenty of mediocre play for both these baseball organizations. The Orioles are still 1.5 games behind the last wild card spot, but not many baseball fans outside of the Orioles fans have them making the playoffs. The Red Sox have been the same and after having the second wild card spot in their possession, they have fallen all the way to five games out of the picture. While the Red Sox are favored in this one at -115, the Orioles also are at -105, as books are split on which team should be the favorite since both teams have just been alright.
Both these teams rank in the bottom half of the MLB in pitching, and in the bottom half in the MLB on On base percentage. They have both won five of their last ten games, which I stated before is just alright, nothing special. We must congratulate the Orioles for overachieving under very low expectations we had for them in the season, but I don’t believe it will pay off in a playoff spot.
The pitching matchup in tonight’s game will be between Nick Pivetta of the Red Sox and Dean Kramer of the Orioles. Nick Pivetta has once again, just as his team has been smack dab all right, as he has a win-loss record of 9-9 with an ERA of 4.28 and WHIP of 1.29. Kramer has a record of 5-4 with an ERA of 3.58 and a whip, the same as Pivetta at 1.29. The Orioles took the first game in this three-game series against the Red Sox and I will look to that to pay dividends to them tonight.
