Diamondbacks Hit Rock Bottom After Nine Straight Losses

The San Diego Padres take on the Diamondbacks in the desert for the final matchup of their 3-game series. The 56-60 Padres took down the Diamondbacks 10-5 in the series opener, handing Arizona their 9th straight loss. The Diamondbacks have fallen below .500, and with a 57-59 record, Arizona’s once promising season has turned to ash. 

I like the Padres in this one. San Diego has the best defense in the National League. They’ve allowed the fewest runs in the NL with 475 runs against, and with a 3.82 ERA, the Padres have the 5th-best bullpen in the MLB. The Diamondbacks have looked hopeless in the 2nd half of the season, posting a 5-20 (20% win-rate) record since returning from the All-Star break. Arizona is 1-9 in their last 10, averaging a measly 2.4 runs per game, and against the Padres stubborn defense, the Diamondbacks don’t stand a chance.
