Diamondbacks Crack Under Pressure

The Arizona Diamondbacks, who were in a strong position to make the playoffs in the first half of the season, are now scrambling to get their season back on track. The Diamondbacks are 3rd in the NL West with a 57-53 record, and while they remain above .500, they’ve squandered their top-5 standing in the National League after going 5-15 in their last 20 games. 

The Minnesota Twins on the other hand, are atop the standings in the AL Central with a 56-54 record. The Twins went 4-6 in their last 10 and lead their division by just 2.5 games. Minnesota’s only real shot at making the playoffs is to win the division, and they’ll be making a strong push to make sure that happens. 

I like the Twins in this one. Minnesota is solid at home, winning 55.6% of the time in Minneapolis. The Twins are playing much better than the Diamondbacks right now, as Arizona is averaging just 3.1 runs per game in their last 10, while Minnesota scored 4.7 per game.
