Diamondbacks Come Roaring Back

The Arizona Diamondbacks are back in playoff contention. After a horrendous performance in July, when they posted an 8-16 record, the Dbacks have come storming back for a last minute playoff push. Arizona went 8-2 in their last 10, and enter their series with the Reds on a 4-game winning streak. The Dbacks are 0-3 against Cincinnati, but they have yet to face the Reds on their home turf. 

The Cincinnati Reds are 65-61, half a game behind Arizona in the National League standings. Cincy had a promising start, going 50-41 in the first half of the season, but are 15-20 since returning from the All-Star break, and are not expected to make the playoffs. The Reds can blame their pitching, as they post the 6th-worst ERA (4.74) and have given up the 4th-most runs in the NL (625).    

I like the Diamondbacks in this one. Arizona has had their troubles this season, but have also shown moments of brilliance. The Dbacks won 4 straight against good teams, and now face a relatively easy opponent in the Cincinnati Reds. All the momentum is with Arizona, so I’m putting my faith in the Diamondbacks over the Reds.
