Detroit Tigers at Milwaukee Brewers: Prediction, Player Props, & Betting Tips
By Sam Batz
On Wednesday, April 26th the Milwaukee Brewers are set to host the Detroit Tigers for the third and final matchup of their 3-game AL versus NL series (1:40 PM EST, ESPN+/MLB Extra Innings). The Tigers beat the Brewers in a shocking 4-2 upset on Monday. Detroit held Milwaukee scoreless after the 3rd inning and out hit the Brewers 8 to 5. Despite the loss, the Brewers remain -1.5 run favorites for Wednesday. Milwaukee’s moneyline is priced at -210, while the Tigers are the underdogs at +175.
Away Team: Detroit Tigers (+1.5; ML +175)
Detroit is 8-13 (38.1%) through the first month of the season. The Tigers are 3rd in the AL Central Division, 12th in the American League, and 24th in the MLB. They went 6-4 in their last 10 games, but according to FiveThirtyEight, Detroit is not expected to make the playoffs. The Tigers have the worst offense in the league, coming in dead last for batting average (.211), hits (150), RBI (63), and total runs (64). Detroit has won just 30.8% of their away games thus far, and although their win over Milwaukee on Monday was impressive, they are not expected to repeat that success on Wednesday.
Home Team: Milwaukee Brewers (-1.5; ML -210)
The Milwaukee Brewers are off to a great start, posting a 15-8 (65.2%) record through the first month of the season. They’ve been a formidable opponent, winning 69.2% of their away games, and 60.0% of their home games. The Brewers are 2nd in the NL Central Division, tied for 2nd (with the Atlanta Braves) in the National League, and are tied for 4th (again with the Braves) in the MLB. Milwaukee went 6-4 in their last 10 games, but are just 1 game behind the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place in the division. After Monday’s devastating loss to the lowly Tigers, the Brewers are bound to come out swinging, and will ultimately take the series 2-1.

Tigers vs. Brewers: Player Props
Detroit Tigers
- Riley Greene (CF): Over 0.5 Hits (-220)
22-year-old Riley Greene leads the Tigers with 19 hits on 85 AB. His batting average is .224, his OBP is .283, and he’s hit 2 home runs. His numbers aren’t impressive compared to the rest of the league, but he’s the best Detroit has to offer. Against the Brewers on Monday, Greene recorded 0 hits on 4 AB, but had 1 BB, and 1 RBI.
- Javier Baez (SS): Over 0.5 Hits (-220)
Baez had a great game against Milwaukee on Monday, recording 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 BB in just 3 AB. He is batting .222 with 16 total hits (3rd on Detroit) and 8 RBI. The Tigers have struggled on offense, but Baez has been one of the more consistent players for Detroit, recording 0.8 hits per game.
Milwaukee Brewers
- William Contreras (C): Over 0.5 Hits (-200)
Will Contreras has 21 hits and a batting average of .323 in 65 AB. He had an excellent game on Monday against the Tigers, and was the only Brewer to record 2 hits. He scored 1 of Milwaukee’s 2 runs and I expect him to have another great game on Wednesday.
- Willy Adames (SS): Over 0.5 Hits (-200)
Adames is tied for the most hits on the Brewers with 22 and is posting a respectable batting average of .262. He has the 2nd-most AB (84) on Milwaukee, and will have plenty of chances to redeem himself against Detroit after failing to record a hit on Monday.
Tigers vs. Brewers Prediction
Take the Milwaukee Brewers to win on Wednesday night. The Brewers and Tigers play their second game of the series the night before (Tuesday, April 25th) and are expected to win both Tuesday and Wednesday against Detroit. The Tigers are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to offensive production, scoring just 3.1 runs per game. The Brewers score 4.8 runs per game, and should easily match their average against the Tigers, who give up 4.95 runs on average. Milwaukee’s probable pitcher, Freddy Peralta, is a superior pitcher to Detroit’s presumed starter, Michael Lorenzen, who the Brewers will be teeing off on all night.
Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline (-210)
